Draft Guidelines Released: Managing the Environmental Effects of Petroleum Development Activities (including Hydraulic Fracturing)
The Ministry for the Environment has released draft guidelines for Local Government: Managing Environmental Effects of Petroleum Development Activities (including Hydraulic Fracturing).The guidelines are intended to operate as a non-statutory guide prepared to provide clarity on the roles of central and local government in the management of hydraulic fracturing.They are presently at a draft stage with the Government currently undertaking targeted, technical consultation on its content with NGOs, local councils, iwi and the extractive industry sector.
